Things are about to change in the world of Champions League broadcasting in the UK. New from this season is that BT Sport will broadcast the different matches from Champions League in the UK. There are however one thing that does not change, and that is the fact that ITV will still broadcast one match every single Champions League week which can be watched for free.
This is the tradition from long time since, and this is a result of UEFA requiring and wanting due to commercials and sponsor agreements, that some matches should be shown on public television every single week, to make sure that even those without a local cable subscription to channels such as BT Sport and Sky Sports can watch the action both on their old TVs and for the rest of us to watch the action online.
So, for a second I worried that no Champions League matches will be broadcasted on ITV in the 2015-16 season, but I just got it confirmed that even though BT Sport has the rights to broadcast, ITV will still remain in their position which we have gotten so used to already, broadcasting one Champions League match every Tuesday, and if there is an English team playing then that is the match they will show.
