Netflix just released information about a brand new Netflix original movie named Wonderland, starring Mark Wahlberg and Winston Duke.
The movie, Wonderland, will be directed by Pete Berg. It tells us the story of a guy named Spenser who just got out of prison. Even though he wants to start over, it is hard as he is dragged back into the underworld of Boston where he gets to hear about a sensational murder.
The story is built on the book written by Ace Atkins named “Robert B. Parker’s Wonderland.” It is a part of the so-called Spenser series, a series of books that was first written by Robert B. Parker, and now continued by Ace Atkins. The Spenser character has been the main character of 48 novels written by Parker, and they have all been bestsellers in the New York Times.
If they succeed with this movie, who knows, maybe we will be served more Spenser stories on Netflix in the future? There is still no information available about when the movie will be released on Netflix, but I do believe we have something to look forward to!
Who is Winston Duke?
As I first read the official Netflix press release, I wondered, who is Winston Duke? He had a role in the Black Panther (a movie you can now stream on Netflix), but I couldn’t remember which role he actually had. After a quick visit to IMDb, I discovered that he played the role of M’Baku, one of the tribal kings in the kingdom of Wakanda.
Who is Peter Berg?
Peter Berg, the director of the movie, has earlier directed movies such as Deepwater Horizon, Patriots Day, Mile 22, Lone Survivor, and Battleship. He has said earlier that the Spenser series has a great potential, and if this will turn into a success, we could possibly see lots of other movies in this series created in the future for Netflix.
