The Dear Dumb Diary is a series of children’s book which was written by Jim Benton. The main character of the books are Jamie Kelly, who is telling the story in the first person view who is a middle school girl.
Later they made a family movie out of it which was released in 2013 directed by Kristin Hanggi and written by Jim Benton and Kristin Hanggi. The film stars Emily Akyn Lind as Jamie Kelly, who the 11 year old girl telling the story, Sterling Griffith as Angeline, who is the most popular girl in Jamie’s class, David Mazouz as Hudson Rivers, Jamie’s crush and Mary Charles Jones as Isabella who is Jamie’s best friend and classmate. The movie is about an 11 year old middle school girl, Jamie who is a dreamer and takes part in the organisation to save her school’s failing art program. Jamie Kelly might not be the most popular girl in her high school but in her dreams and imagination she is so glamorous that even the coolest and most popular girl in the school, Angeline is green with envy. In real life Jamie’s crush Hudson Rivers does not give any attention to Jamie but fortunately she has her best friend Isabella who she can always rely on. Later she joins to the organisation to save the school’s failing art program which is a turning point in her life where Jamie has to learn some important life lessons.
