Disney+ is doing its uttermost at becoming a streaming service with content available for people of all kinds. The most anticipated show is their Star Wars series named The Mandalorian, but besides this, they have also created a brand new High School Musical series, a series with Kristen Bell who tries to reunite an old school class to let them perform Annie once again (Encore), and then you have the show for those who want to learn about interesting topic. What is the name of the show? The World According to Jeff Goldblum.
Do I need to tell you more about Jeff Goldblum? He is a smart guy in almost all his movies, and he is one of the smartest bad-asses in the legendary movie Independence Day. He has a smart look, and that is why he is ideal in his role as a guy looking for more information on interesting topics in this series.
The series might be similar to Explained on Netflix, however, this is more of a show, meaning that there is a lot of humor and Jeff Goldblum in it, and not that much of explaining and pure facts. There will be information handed on and you will learn quite a bit, but considering that an episode lasts for almost twice the time of an episode of Explained, I would still say that you learn way more from watching an episode of Explained. But, maybe this is meant to be just as much about entertainment as it is to be about actually learning something?
The first episode is all about Sneakers
The first episode of The World according to Jeff Goldblum is about the sneaker industry (shoe). We start by watching a collection of sneakers, and then we are told that they have a value of more than 1,000,000 USD. How is that possible? What makes a shoe worth that much money? Who would care to pay that much for a shoe? And why are people crazy about spending money on special sneakers? Jeff Goldblum will let you learn more about the topic and he will give you answers to many of the questions I just listed.
There will come more episodes in the coming weeks, and this is a product made for Disney+ in cooperation with National Geographics. I enjoyed the first episode, and even though it might not be an extraordinary production, it can still be enjoyed for those who want something more than just pure entertainment on Disney+.
