I have just watched the first episode of The Boys on Amazon. I didn’t know what to expect before the first episode, only that it was supposed to be about superheroes not only fighting on the good side. I watched the trailer as well, but I had a hard time really understanding what to expect based on the trailer. But, after watching one single episode, I know have a better grip on the story!
I thought The Boys would be about a group of superheroes doing good, but also having trouble with their own personalities. After watching the first episode on Amazon, I got to say that I was kind of correct. But, not entirely.
Who are The Boys?
To my surprise, The Boys isn’t the title of those superheroes, but about a small group of some people actually going against the superheroes. But, why would they need to fight against them or go against the superheroes? Well, it seems as if they aren’t really as good as one would expect.
Hughie Campbell is one of the boys. We meet him at the start of the first episode as he stands with his girlfriend chatting on the street. Suddenly, A-Train (a superhero moving with superspeeds) runs by them and the girlfriend ends up dead after being “torn to pieces” by the superhero moving with superspeed. Hughie isn’t able to be at peace with this, and as he meets Billy Butcher, they decide to go for “The Seven” to get them down. But, it isn’t gonna be that easy.
At the same time, we also meet the brand new member of The Seven, Erin Moriarty, better known as Starlight. She comes with entirely pure intentions to the superhero-assembly, and she is greatly surprised to discover the corrupted morale among the people she had adored until she became one of them. Where will this take her in the coming episode? I don’t know yet!
Why The Boys surprised me (in a positive way)?
After watching the trailer, I didn’t feel like watching The Boys at all. It looked like a mess to me, but I took the time to watch the first episode. And to be honest, it threw me so many curveballs that it caught my attention, and actually made me curious about how this will continue from here.
Yes, the fact that it is so different makes it good. I still have seven more episodes to watch before I get to the end of season 1, and we already know that The Boys has been renewed for a second season. But, based on the pilot episode, this for sure looks good!
Where can you watch The Boys online?
If you have an Amazon Prime subscription, then stream it on Amazon Prime. If you have a Prime Video subscription, stream it on Prime Video. If you do not have either, you better get one of them. You can find out more on how to stream Amazon Prime videos abroad, and those instructions will also help you actually buy an Amazon Prime subscription in the United States.
I do not know of any other TV channels showing this Amazon show currently, so this is the way to watch it. There are some Amazon shows that you can stream on other platforms, but this is not one of them!
How did you like The Boys?
Have you seen the first episode? Have you seen several episodes? How did you like The Boys? I would love to hear your thoughts!
