Groundhog Day is an American fantasy comedy movie which was released in 1993 and it was directed by Harold Ramis and it was written by Harold Ramis and Danny Rubin. The movie is based on the story by Rubin. The main characters in the film are Bill Murray as Phil Connors the weatherman, Andie MacDowell as Rita Hanson, Chris Elliott as Larry the cameraman, Stephen Tobolowsky as Ned Ryerson, Brian Doyle-Murray as Buster Green and so on.

The story of Groundhog Day is about an arrogant Pittsburgh TV weatherman Phil Connors who is trapped in a time loop during the cover of the annual Groundhog Day in Punxsutaweny, Pennsylvania. Connors is the only one who is aware of the time loop and first he is taking advantages of the situation, he steals money, he learns secrets of the residents of the town, he seduces women, he gets drunk, he gets in jail and he repeats this every day. Eventually Connors gets depressed and he tries committing suicide numerous times to get out of the time loop without any success. Stuck in the time loop Connors slowly but surely starts appreciating life.
Groundhog Day got generally good reviews and feedbacks from the critics. The movie won a British Comedy Award and Andie MacDowell won a Saturn Award for Best Actress playing Rita in the movie.
