Are you looking for a new TV series to watch? Maybe you have heard about True Detective, a success series from HBO which is now airing its second season. You can of course watch both the first and the second season on HBO Now. But, is it worth watching?
It is useful to know that season 1 and season 2 does not have any direction connection, meaning that they do work as separate films with separate stories, so you do not need to start with season 1 if you would rather watch season 2 instead. You can for example take a look at the list of the cast, and decide which season to watch based on which cast you prefer.
True Detective season 1
- Matthew McConaughey as Detective Rustin “Rust” Cohle
- Woody Harrelson as Detective Martin Hart
- Michelle Monaghan as Maggie Hart
- Michael Potts as Detective Maynard Gilbough
- Tory Kittles as Detective Thomas Papania
True Detective season 2
- Colin Farrell as Detective Raymond “Ray” Velcoro, Vinci Police Department
- Rachel McAdams as Sergeant Antigone “Ani” Bezzerides, Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division
- Taylor Kitsch as Officer Paul Woodrugh, California Highway Patrol
- Vince Vaughn as Francis “Frank” Semyon, a criminal and entrepreneur
- Kelly Reilly as Jordan Semyon, Frank’s wife
Which of these casts seems most interesting to you? Before continuing it might be useful for you to know that True Detective is not an action TV series in the same sense as for example 24. Things take place in slow motion (almost) and it has a much darker atmosphere to it. In True Detective you will not see shooting episodes, explosions and gun fights all the time, in fact they do not exist at all (almost). So, here you instead follow the detectives and the other characters, and gain much insight in their personal lives, their challenges, addictions and so on.
Does this sound like something for you? I would personally watch 24 instead, but with no more 24 seasons produced I guess I will have to do with True Detective until something better shows up!
If you want to see it then you can go ahead and watch it on HBO Now. Read more about how you can watch HBO Now online right away!
Please help me…I have just subscribed to HBo so I could watch True Detective tonight. I want to see it on my Samsung tv. I am at my computer now, obviously. How do I switch the movie to tv?
Hello there! If it is a smart TV and you are in the United States, you will probably find an HBO Now application that can be used for the purpose… I hope that will help you. Is your Samsung TV a smart TV? If not, you can either use a HDMI cable from your computer to “transmit” the content on your laptop to the TV, or you could use for example a Chromecast!
