Watch The Prestige on Amazon.com

The Prestige is a film about two magicians who fight one another throughout their entire lives as a consequence of a mistake that happened during a trick they did together way back in history. The film is full of famous actors such as Scarlett Johansson, Hugh Jackman, Michael Caine, Christian Bale and David Bowie.

I am a very big fan of the Now You See Me film and I am really looking forward to the sequel which will be released later in 2016. I therefore hoped that The Prestige would be something like the Now You See Me film, but I soon realized that this was a very different film. That does not have to be a negative thing, but it was still very different.

The actors in the film do a fantastic job and for example Michael Caine also has a role in Now You See Me, so that was what was common between the two films. This film is entirely dedicated to the battle between the two magicians and the desire at all times to be the better one and the question is always who is willing to sacrifice the most for them to be the best of all.

In a film about magicians what is most entertaining are the actual tricks and you always wait with great expectancy to find out how they actually do the tricks, almost like when Sherlock deduct the different crimes taking place in an episode of Sherlock Holmes, be it Sherlock, Elementary or the Sherlock Holmes films.

There were not a lot of magic tricks that had to be discovered like this throughout the film, but there were some, and it was in fact quite entertaining to see how it was done and those were for me the highlights of the film.

The film has received lots of praise and great critics on the Internet and it has strong ratings both on IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes.
