Every month I write articles about what’s coming to Amazon Prime. One of the highlights for me in July was the arrival of Under the Silver Lake. At least, I thought it was going to be a highlight!
It might sound strange from someone writing blog posts about Amazon Prime, but I normally don’t find the selection of movies and TV shows available on Amazon Prime to be satisfying. It is almost identical to what you can stream on Hulu, only with fewer TV shows available. But, Under the Silver Lake was a movie that was added to Amazon Prime that couldn’t be streamed on Hulu, nor on HBO Now or on Netflix, so this gave me a chance to enjoy the membership. But, was the evening spent watching Under the Silver Lake a success?
Should you watch Under the Silver Lake on Amazon Prime?
If you already have an Amazon Prime membership, feel free to give the movie a try. But, if you don’t have an Amazon Prime membership yet, I would not get one because of this movie. I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect, except for the fact that I thought it would contain interesting twists and an interesting story. I did get some twists, but they were simply too crazy and ended up being boring. As a result, we were three who watched the first hour of the movie, and I ended up finishing it all by myself. I didn’t watch it till the end because I liked it, but because I am like Sheldon in the Big Bang Theory. Maybe you don’t know what that means? I simply have to finish what I start to have peace in my mind. So, I finished it, and as I finished, I felt as if I had wasted a couple of hours of my life.
Well, I didn’t exactly throw them away, because they helped me write this negative article. But, still – this wasn’t the best movie experience I have had. In fact, it was one of the most boring and disappointing movie experiences I have had in a long time. Maybe it would have been easier if I didn’t look so much forward to watching it?
Have you seen Under the Silver Lake on Amazon Prime? How did you like it?
Do you need help watching Amazon Prime abroad? You can read more about how it can be done at amazonprime.fromabroad.org.
I thought this would be one of the great summer movies on Amazon Prime in 2019, but I was wrong. I guess I should watch The Spy Who Dumped Me instead? Or do you have some other recommendation for me?
